DAILY PRACTICES TO REACH YOUR GOAL
We are only four months away from a new year and as scary as that may sound, reality hits when you look back on your new year's resolution and wonder;
Have I achieved even one of my goals?
What progress have I made so far?
Who's been in my support circle?
I’ve always been a curious and focused, however in my early twenties I struggled to find the rhythm to develop good ways to achieving my goal.
Whether that included applying for graduate schemes, a singing show or learning the piano. I've had to learn to be intentional in order to see progress with my goals, some of which I'll be sharing in the next coming weeks.
Here are 6 simple ways you can start doing today;
1. CLEAR YOUR MIND
We’ve all heard of making SMART goals whether in business or our personal lives.
However, before you can make all your plans, specific or measurable, it’s important to spend some time to clear your head.
Remove any toxic thoughts of why you can’t achieve that one goal you’ve been dreaming about.
Whether it’s someone who couldn’t see your potential or your own insecurities, clearing your mind will put you back in focus.
2. WRITE DOWN YOUR ULTIMATE VISION BEFORE YOU SET YOUR GOALS
Anything not written down is just a dream.
When you write down your vision, it clarifies your purpose – Dr Myles Monroe
It allows you to set the right priorities and give you a clear picture of what you’re to do list will look like.
Writing down your ultimate vision also sets the pace of how quick or long it will take to achieve your goal.
For instance, my vision is to one day sing with an orchestra band whilst playing the piano.
From this vision, I can set my goals;
Find a mentor in that industry that can give me the tools to reach it
Commit to practicing 30mins every day on the keyboard
Rehearse my favourite songs
Do vocal workouts at least 15mins a day
Writing down your vision clarifies your goals!
3. CREATE A DAILY SCHEDULE
Schedules keep us focused and provide a routine for us to accomplish our goals.
From it, you can build good habits that point you in the direction of your career path or dream.
ASK YOURSELF?
How effective I'm I using my time to focus on your goals?
Have I written down a task in your schedule that will take me one step further to committing to my goal?
If you've got those answers already - Great!
If you're still wondering where most of your time is spent, why not track what you do everyday and you'll amazed to see what's been taking up most of your time.
When you stick to a schedule, it helps determine your priorities for the day.
You'll realise you're able to meet and exceed your daily goals and make progress.

4. WAKE UP EARLY
Ok, don’t tune off just yet!
If you’re like me, waking up early seems impossible – or just plain crazy.
Why do that to yourself? Give yourself a break and lay in for a few hours?
Author of the 5am club Robin Sharma, has found that having a healthy morning routine can help you be more productive.
In fact, you can win your morning while most people are asleep by working on your most important projects with minimum distractions.
He implements the 20/20 formula so that you can start your day effectively and to win.
You can check out his book on here.
Waking up early not only promotes creativity but also increases your state of flow.
5. MINIMISE DISTRACTIONS
I often find myself falling into the trap of consuming rather than actually creating.
Whether it’s on social media, binge watching my favourite series on Netflix or just scrolling on an online dating site, removing distractions allows you to achieve more.
In his book the 5 am club, Robin Sharma states that you can achieve more in one hour of uninterrupted time than in 4 hrs of interrupted time.
One way of doing this is by setting a timer on your phone on the thing you want to do.
If it’s writing; set a timer for 30mins and avoid looking at anything else until it’s done.
If you’re trying to start a business or research your market, push off notifications to avoid having to look at new posts and updates on social media.
I’ve found that leaving my phone in another room, makes me focus more on whatever task I do.
TRY IT OUT AND YOU’LL BE AMAZED AT THE RESULTS!
6. HAVE FUN
For us to achieve our goals, we need learn to ENJOY WHAT WE DO!
Ask yourself; How do you include a fun element to your goal?
One of the reasons why we give up on a task or project at hand is that we stress over it rather than creating a fun environment to work around.
I enjoy writing and singing but one of the ways I stay motivated to write a post, is by journaling what I experience in a day.
It allows you to be creative and just wonder on the many possibilities of what I become.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE THINGS YOU'VE ADOPTED TO REACH YOUR GOALS?
Let me know your thoughts!
